AOIFE+
  THE WILLOWS

aoife press shot1.jpg

Based in Dublin’s Fair City, Aoife + The Willows were founded in 2023 by 20yo Aoife Williams, originally hailing from the Kildare countryside, eager to share her poetic lyrics and intricate melodies with the world. She gathered her bandmates and now close friends while studying in college. Tim Tora on drums, with his metal background adds a welcomed grit to Karl Dreimanis’s firmly funk and blues lead guitar roots. The boys bounce off each other as Franky Sheridan on bass holds down the groove for Aoife’s evocative lead vocal and Emily Maguire’s Disney Princess esque backing vocals.

Coming from an alternative pop background, this track embodies what it means to reach for love in a world with little romance left to give. The lyrics come from a place of gratuity to the great examples set by a father figure and the complex frustration that is born in adult life when searching for a partner who can reach those expectations. The track is a slow burn sonic journey from comfort and acceptance to hope and determination. With its warm and striking lyrics, the verses will immerse you in the life of 20yo songwriter and band leader Aoife Williams, telling you of past and present relationships whether they be nostalgic or regretful. The chorus hits home with its hopeful but mature melody and haunting guitar beautifully capturing what it means to feel loved and to love against all odds. The song opens itself into a wall of sound at its end, telling the listener and whomever else might hear how one deserves to be loved and adored, warning against the possibility and fear of being let down or betrayed.
